The Charm of Our North Four Corners Neighborhood

By Jacquie Bokow

Some bright spots in our neighborhood during this time of pandemic displayed the creativity of some of our inventive residents.  Here are two of them from summer and winter of 2020.

Resourceful preteen Ella on Northwood Avenue spent days creating a whimsical fairy garden in the corner of her family’s front yard.
The fanciful display covered numerous levels and ingenious tableaus; these few photographs do not do its enchanted romanticism justice.  (Click on any of the photos to see larger versions.)

Speaking of otherworldly, an inspired Christmas display nestled within the branches of a tree on Margate Road near Snowy Owl Drive not only was lit up at night but had a running train around the snow-covered village.

[Note:  These photos were taken by their designer, Mr. Ema Perez, during daylight hours so their details could be appreciated.  I was told all of the figures and materials cost nothing, as they were obtained through ‘Buy Nothing Four Corners.’]

These visionaries left those of us lucky enough to come across their work spellbound.  Let’s hope our imaginative neighbors treat us again in 2021!   ■
