GLASS Provides a Venue for LGBTQ in Area to Meet

By Jacquie Bokow

“GLASS” is an acronym for “Gays and Lesbians Around Silver Spring,” but the inclusive group also welcomes Trans partners.  The support group was started by Rich and James Peterson of White Oak.  As of last month, the group had 111 couples, 60 female and 51 male.

GLASS members used to meet in the garden at Mrs. K’s, left.

On the third Thursday each month, members of the group meet at 5:30 p.m. in a private room at Eggspectation in Downtown Silver Spring.  (They use the sidewalk patio when it’s warm; latecomers are still welcome.)  Most of those participating live within three miles of the restaurant.  Although most attendees are local, GLASS welcomes couples who, as their website states, “do not live down the street.”

To become a member of this group, send an email to Rich and James at rich AT recruitcom DOT com. Learn more about GLASS at their website, www.weareglass.org.   ■
