Tyler from Catbird Bike Outfitters and his mobile bike shop are coming BACK to our neighborhood this Friday April 24th, at 9:00 a.m. for a day of professional bike repairs. Catbird Bike Outfitters will set up in the driveway at the corner of Margate Road and Snowy Owl Drive. Tyler is professional bike mechanic and he can do it all — from fixing a flat; replacing that rusty chain; adjusting gears, brakes, and wheels; full tune ups; and even assembling your bike.
Meet friends and neighbors at 10 a.m. at North Four Corners Park (211 Southwood Avenue — entrance off Southwood Avenue at Edgewood Avenue, Royalton Road, or University Blvd.) for coffee, Woodmoor donuts, and other snacks, courtesy once again of the NFCCA. Come to the burgundy tent in the meadow between the tennis courts and the large playground. We will roll out at 10:30 a.m. with a warm-up loop around the park and head down towards Sligo Creek Parkway and back at a relaxed pace for a ride of approximately four miles. Montgomery County Police once again will be in attendance to hold traffic at the major intersections so that we can have a safe ride (thank those officers!). This is NFCCA’s fifth All-Ages Earth Day Bike Ride! To mark this occasion, we ask for 15-20 minutes of your time after the ride to help us pick up trash at our great park; grabbers and bags available for those who are able to participate.
It’s our Fifth Annual event! To have your house included on the yard sale map, please sign up using the link below before 7 P.M. on Friday, May 8. (Rain date: 17 May.)
The Northwood Garden Club will be hosting its Annual Plant Swap on Saturday, 30 May, at 309 Dennis Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Bring a transplant or extra seedlings to swap for a different plant from your neighbors’ gardens. If you don’t have anything to swap, stop by at the end to pick up something left over. Everything must go!
Every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. (weather permitting), on the lower playing field at North Four Corners Park (not the large official field off University Blvd.), neighbors meet for free pick-up soccer games. All are welcome to join in, no matter your skill level. If you’re not up to playing, bring a chair and watch! The park is at 211 Edgewood Avenue (at Southwood Avenue) and can also be reached from both Royalton Road and University Blvd. For more information, call Ema at 703.400.9560.

Only paid members of the NFCCA are eligible to vote on issues or for board members, although anyone in the neighborhood is invited — nay, encouraged! — to attend all of our meetings, whether they are held online or in person. To join the NFCCA, annual dues are now $15 per household and may be delivered or mailed to the Treasurer, paid at any of the five meetings (if held in person), or paid online.
