POSTPONED DUE TO EXTREME HEAT! CHECK BACK FOR NEW DATE. From 6:30-8:30 p.m. at North Four Corners Park, The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company will be “bringing a fresh twist” to Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. This family-friendly event is free and open to all ages. Remember to bring a lawn chair or blanket! Concessions will be available [Lavish Ice Cream].
It’s NFCCA’s “Summer Soaker Bike Party”! We begin with a 10:00 a.m. pre-ride social, followed at 10:30 a.m. with a police-escorted roll-out from North Four Corners Park (entrance off Royalton Road), capped by a water battle at 11:30 a.m.! Our special guest will be Councilmember Natali Fani-Gonzalez! This will be fun — and active — for the whole family; little ones on their own bikes will not be left behind.
Parks Playhouse Junior children’s entertainment series comes to our own North Four Corners Local Park (211 Edgewood Avenue, at Southwood Avenue), so bring a blanket or lawn chair, sun hat, and perhaps a lunch and enjoy the free show! (This is a Montgomery Parks Department program, not NFCCA’s.) Performed by The Puppet Co. Playhouse at Glen Echo Park, follow Peter, a courageous and naive boy on his quest to catch the Wolf against the wishes of his grandfather and his animal friends of the woods. For ages 2-8. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided.
The annual National Night Out celebration will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Forest Knolls Pool on Foxglove Lane.
Our “BIKE BUS,” an adult-led kids bike ride for younger riders, takes students from the neighborhood to Forest Knolls Elementary School along TWO predetermined routes EVERY FRIDAY during the school year. Join our Whats-App group chat named “FKES Bike Bus” if you want your child to ride to school with the bike bus, or contact Ema at 703.400.9560 (el habla español).
Every Monday at 5:30 p.m. (weather permitting), on the lower playing field at North Four Corners Park (not the large official field off University Blvd.), neighbors meet for free pick-up soccer games. All are welcome to join in, no matter your skill level. If you’re not up to playing, bring a chair and watch! The park is at 211 Edgewood Avenue and can also be reached from both Royalton Road and University Blvd.
Only paid members of the NFCCA are eligible to vote on issues or for board members, although anyone in the neighborhood is invited — nay, encouraged! — to attend all of our meetings, whether they are held online or in person. To join the NFCCA, annual dues are now $15 per household and may be delivered or mailed to the Treasurer, paid at any of the five meetings (if held in person), or paid online.
